I know why God gave me my mother…
God’s love for his children
Is infinite, consistent and sure
He is an ever-faithful father
But God needed someone to do
Down here, the everyday little things
Like cuddling us when we’re little
And kissing our childish wounds
Like rocking us into sweet slumber
And tucking us into bed at night
Like giving us our goodnight kisses
And receiving our morning hugs
❤
God needed help with special treats
Like baking cupcakes and cookies
And making all our favorite pies
Like having a hot meal on the table
When we get back home from school
Like having Sunday picnics on the beach
And Christmas dinner with family and friends
❤
God couldn’t be here physically
To embrace us in His God-sized arms
When we’re lonely, scared or sad
To talk us out of our brokenness
When dear friends break our hearts
He couldn’t be here to help bear our pain
To celebrate our successes; to share our joys
❤
God couldn’t come again in person
To gently tend us when we’re ill
To cheer us on at sports events
Or applaud on our graduation day
He couldn’t be down here in person
To stand up for us when we’ve been wronged
To stand behind us when we’re fearful
Or cry tears of joy on our wedding day.
❤
God couldn’t come and show Himself to us
Yet he shines His countenance upon us
And He sees our every deed
He couldn’t come down to stay with us
But He dwells in our Hearts
And knows our every need
God needed a helper in the home
So He gave us our mother
And He blessed her with
The special gift of selfless love
And wants every child to experience
The wonders of a mother’s love.
❤
So I’m thankful for my mother
God’s special gift to me
I’m blessed to have a mother
So faithful, kind and caring
I’m grateful for my mother
Who fills my life with endless love
❤
Happy Mother’s Day, Mama!
